What is laser cutting?

Laser cutting is a processing, in which the high-power density laser beam would irradiate the cutting material, so that the material would be heated to vaporization temperature quickly, and then the hole emerged when the material evaporated. Along with the moving of the beam against the material, the hole will be formed continuously, till these holes becoming a narrow seam (eg. 0.1 mm). In this way, the laser will complete the cutting.

Laser Cutting

Laser cutting can be divided into four categories: laser vaporization cutting, laser melting cutting, laser oxygen cutting and laser scribing and controlled fracture.

Laser cutting processing replaced the traditional mechanical tool by an invisible beam. Therefore, laser cutting has many great characteristics. Such as high precision, fast cutting, not limit for the cutting pattern, automatic typesetting, materials saving, smooth cutting, and low cost on processing. In this way, traditional metal cutting process equipment might be improved or replaced by the laser cutting gradually.

Advantages of Laser Cutting

1.The mechanical part of the laser cutter head has no contact with the workpiece. So the surface of the workpiece will not get scratched during machining.

2.Fast cutting speed. Smooth and flat incision. Generally, the parts can be welded directly and no need subsequent processing.

3.Just a small zone will be affected by cutting heat. Slight deformation on the plate. Narrow incision width, generally the width is 0.1-0.3mm.

4. No mechanical stress on the cut, and no shearing burr. The cut surface roughness is good. (Generally, Ra is 12.5-25μm).

5.High machining accuracy. Generally, the tolerance of the hole center distance is 0.1-0.4 mm, the tolerance of outline dimension is 0.1-0.5mm.

6.Good repeatability, no damage to the surface of the material.

7. CNC programming, which can process any plan drawing, and it can also cut a large area of the whole board. No request for molding, which will save a lot of time and cost.
